Waiting For Hares 守株待兔

There once was a farmer who laboured in his fields all year round.
从前有一个农夫常年在他自己的地里劳作。
One day, as he was working, a hare came out of the bushes.
一天，当他在劳作的时候，一只野兔从灌木丛中跑出来。
Frightened at the sight of the farmer, the hare started to run.
当它看到农夫时，惊吓得开始奔跑。
It ran so fast that it smashed into a tree and died.
它跑得太快，撞到树上就死了。
The farmer brought the hare home.
农夫把野兔带回家。
He enjoyed a wonderful meal with his wife.
农夫和妻子享受了一顿美餐。
The next day, the farmer did not work as hard as before.
第二天，农夫没有以前那么辛苦劳作。
He turned his eyes to the bushes from time to time, hoping to see another hare.
他不时地把眼睛转向灌木丛，期待能再看到一只野兔。
The whole day passed and the farmer didn't see another hare.
一整天过去了，农夫也没看见兔子。
He didn't get much work done either.
他也没做多少农活。
The third day, the farmer was not in the mood to work in the fields anymore.
第三天，农夫根本没有心情再在地里干活了。
He put his tools aside and sat near the tree.
他把农具放在一边，坐在树旁。
There, he waited for another hare.
他在那儿等着另一只野兔出现。
Again, no hare appeared.
再一次，没有任何兔子出现。
From then on, every day, the farmer waited beside the tree.
从那时起，农夫每天都在树旁等着。
Days passed, and not a single hare showed up.
日子一天天过去了，再也没有野兔出现。
Meanwhile, his fields became deserted and nothing grew on them.
与此同时，他的田地变得荒芜，上面什么作物也没有生长。
