His book are distinctly lacking in elves and epic battles of good vs. evil, preferring instead to tell you the personal stories that get tangled up in the fantastic. Cursed children who've lost their humanity, a Red Riding Hood who refuses to follow the story and die, and a bad dream who's never seen the waking world are his heroes, and they tell their own tales.
But does he write these stories well? Ask Kirkus Reviews. Their review starts with 'A dark and complex young-adult fantasy of love, longing and war.' and gets more enthusiastic from there.
